[MR] Update on Siege of the Black Tower-April 9, 2011

Greetings unto the populace do I, Elizabeth Tender Herte send this evening.
 
The time is nearing when the Black Tower will be under Siege - next Saturday, April 9, 2011.  Come join the Canton of Rivers Point for a day of fun, fellowship, and food.
 
Here is an update on Siege of the Black Tower:
 
The current weather forecast is for 77 degrees and partly cloudy - there is a hall and covered picnic pavilion.
 
Due to the unfortunate circumstance of not being able to find a
Rapier Marshal for our Canton's Event, we are forced to cancel the Rapier
portion of the Siege of the Black Tower's Marshal Activities. 
 
We will have Heavy Weapons and Youth Combat as planned.  There will also be a melee for Heavy Weapons - so melee combatants remember to bring a prize to put in the Treasure Chest!
 
A&S Classes planned are finger loop braiding and Singing in the Round.
Remember to bring your items for the A&S displays and your entries for the baking competition.
 
Pages Academy classes planned are "A Medieval Siege" and "Court Courtesy" and there will be service opportunities for the pages as well.
 
There will be a Silent Auction of new and gently used SCA items.  Donations of items are still being accepting (small items only please).
 
And of course, we will be offering a day board of siege rations as part of your entrance fee!  Please bring your feast gear!
 
If you have not pre-registered, you can still pay at the event:
Adults $12.00; Youth 5-17 yrs $7.00; Non Member Adults $17.00
 
Remember:  this is a dry site and no pets allowed.
 
Site opens at 9:00 am and closes at 7:00 pm
 
Merchants are welcome but need to contact the autocrat in advance.
 
A schedule will be posted later in the week.
