It helps more than you can imagine. Sounds like my plans are made. If I can
successfully bounce around the War of the Wings site (albeit with occaisional
help) this should be a breeze. Thank you so much for the info.

Jacqueline,
Can you provide me with some extra details on "accessible the area is to the
handicapped" info you are looking for?
I know that the area that has been set aside for handicapped camping is close to
electricity for those who might need it for scooters. I don't have much info on
it, but I know it was discussed at the last "site meeting". However, don't take
this as solid just yet. There are still details that are being worked out and
we are far enough from the event that things can change. I know that this is
being taken in considerations.
The parking will be close to hadicapped. However, it is located at the end of
the overall event site.
There is water. Showers are being set up, it will be closer to just about all
of the camping areas including handicapped. It will still be a little bit of a
walk, maybe 50 yards???
There is plans for meals. Right now the discussion is lunch and dinner for
Saturday and Sunday of the event. The plans are still forming on whether you
buy each meal separately, or you buy the meals by the day. Either way, meals
will be set up so if you wish to buy the meal plan onsite, you will have to
register that decision when you pre-register for the event; it will also be
set-up on ACCEPS. I do know that buying meals will not be available any other
way than through ACCEPS. It is a planning issue with the group cooking. They
want to be able to have enough food for those who signed up. Hopefully they
will post an update soon so people can start planning.
The site is a large grassy field. They hold the county fair there every year.
It is a hard surface for a grassy field. It is NOT however totally flat. There
are gently rolling slopes in some areas. From the parking lot to the actually
activity area -- fighting fields, populas tent, A&S, you will go down a small
swale that then crosses over a stream that is active in the rainy season. the
cross over is built up with gravel and made for vehicles to drive over, so no
worries there. Once you cross over this, there is a slight upwards slope to the
activies. If you are in a scooter, you will have no problems. If you walk and
going upwards causes a little breathing problems, you might get a little
winded. If you are in a wheelchair on your own power, you should be okay, or
get someone to help push you for 20 yards or so.
The merchant area will be across the the streambed between the handicap camping
and the fighting field.
I don't know if this helps in anyway. I am sure more info on the site will be
coming soon. Right now they are trying to get ACCEPS going so people can start
pre-reg. Once they have that going, there will be more clear infomation posted.

Cairistiona

Believe it or not, that is more info than you may realize. If the field is
flat, then an electric scooter can run on it (unless it rains). If there is
water I don't have to worry about transporting it. And if electricity is hard
to come by, then I need to make sure that I have alternate means of movement at
the site in case I run low on battery. This is a lot more info than I had.
Thank you,
Megara

Megara,
I am Lord Alain de la Rochelle (SC Equestrian Marshal-Atlantia) . I hope
that I may be able to fill in some information. I travelled to the site on 5 Mar
2011 in order to help plan equestrian activities... : Iam not trying to replace
or answer for the autocrat but I will try and provide the little informationthat
I do know....
There is water...running water and limited (if any) electricity. The area is a
huge field in my rough calcualtions (about 60 acres).
Feast? The jury is still out on that one and we may have to create one within
our own encampment.....(equestrians).
As far as horses go...our are is flat and level with very little hazards (holes
etc).
I sincerely hope your portion of the event is filled with missing information.
I hope to see you out there as well!
