*Lovers of rapier melees,* hie yourselves down to Windmasters Hill on May
14th for *Le Grand Tournoi de Amitie, the Great Tourney of Friends*, in
which three teams will compete in a day-long festival of rapier melee (if
you liked Night on the Town, this event should be calling to you in your
dreams). How, asks you?

*First, the safety:*
Rapier inspections and authorizations will start at 10am.
The fighting will start at 10:30 and continue through the rest of the day,
with a short break for lunch.

*Then, the fighting!*
During the fighting, we will fight:
A grand melee, with the last man standing's (LMS) team awarded one point
Team vs. Team round robin LMS, with a win awarded one point
Three-way team grand melee, with the last team standing awarded one point
A VIP team grand melee, with the first VIP delivered to their destination
awarded 1 point
2 team vs. 1 team LMS, timed, with the longest time awarded 3 points
2 team vs. 1 team VIP, round robin, with successful delivery earning 2
points
BUSHKAZI! (Because this is my favorite game) Both as teams and a
free-for-all, a win earns 1 point
Three-way Jugger, with a win earning 1 point. The first round, only the
Quick will be able to rez, the second round will be a 5 minute match with
rezzes every 15 seconds.
After that, I'll use my imagination.
I told Letia we will fight until she needs a 5 Hour Energy EXTREEEEEM BOOST
to be able to pick up her sword. I make no promises, but this is the goal.

After the scored melee, we will hold *a Blacksword Tournament!*

Then, *more melee.*

*Conventions and notes for the day:*

   - This event tends to be hot and sunny. Use sunscreen, drink lots of
water, eat breakfast, save me paperwork.
   - We will follow the rules of melee as established in Society law. All
fighters will be considered engaged at all times, and you can only attack
from the front 180 degree arc. Clarification: attacks must begin from
within the front 180, and end within the front 180, unless the opponent
turns away. The front 180 will be defined by your best judgment. As
anatomical definitions are not universally indicative of the front 180, it
is the duty of the attacker to insure they are indisputably in the front arc
of their opponent before launching an attack. If you are not sure, step
   further into their front arc.
   - DFB will be in effect for all scenarios.
   - You cannot throw or kick anything that has to be captured. If you are
carrying it and you die, it drops where you had it last
   - Recall that we are simulating play with sharp weapons. Any valid blow
from a weapon, regardless of who's holding it, should be called (and yes, if
you should accidentally stab your own foot, you should consider yourself
   legged).
   - Any further questions should be directed to me. No conventions or
rules not stated and not in Society and kingdom law are in force.
