>I don't see why the SCA can't do a similar thing at

our events. Unless of course its because
we are not collecting the

information to then bombard those who enter with advertisements about

the SCA.. :)

A very significant thing to consider here is that Margaret and I are not
"The SCA", nor "The Kingdom of Atlantia, SCA". We're a couple of members of said group, acting completely as private individuals (we don't even live in the same local branch).Though we are both small business owners, and the prizes so far pledged are items that come from the same skills that we use in our respective businesses, those businesses are not sponsoring this contest. I don't believe either of us would be comfortable with the idea of taking any information garnered by this contest to use for direct advertising.
I'd like to thank Calli for the specific citation regarding the "lottery" situation in NC. We're going to need to redress that idea and it is very good to have the exact wording of the law. We're also currently awaiting more information regarding respective State Laws.

The overall contest isn't one of chance. If you are definitely out to win, it would be a competition of logistical acumen, endurance, and gamboling [playful frolic]. We have been asked to wait for clarification. We have also sought legal advice regarding all this on our own to ensure no other problems may arise.
