I live in Charlotte, NC and am a huge fan of all the trade shows in
and around Charlotte (RV, Home & Garden, Southern Women's, Southern
Christmas, Antique, Bridal) - all of which I have to pay to get in and
all of which have dozens of vendors with slips of paper which you
provide all your contact info adn then drop into a box for a drawing.

Granted this is a way for them to reach out to consumers and flood our
inboxes and phones with advertising - but I have 'won' two bridal
prize packs from Mary Kay in just the last few months and have seen
them at every bridal show doing the same thing.

The proposal for the Passports appears to be a very similar deal to
this, and if national companies like Mary Kay can do this at every
bridal show they attend in NC without issue (as the other numerous
vendors at all these trade shows as this truly is a VERY common
practice at them), I don't see why the SCA can't do a similar thing at
our events. Unless of course its because we are not collecting the
information to then bombard those who enter with advertisements about
the SCA.. :)

Just a thought, but it is a practice I see being done rampantly in
North Carolina in very public forums by corporations which are far
more in the public spotlight than the SCA is.
