  Noble friends,

The lead story today on Wikipedia is The Tower of London:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tower_of_London (direct link to full
story). This is a capsule history with some great graphics. I'm a
dubious about the image of the Duke of Orleans in the tower, and have
seen this scene described as the imprisonment of the King of France,
John the Good (note the ermine!). In any case, the story about the tower
is very interesting. Also note the two related Wikipedia pages at the
end, "List of prisoners of the Tower of London" and "Tower of London in
popular culture."

If any of you are fortunate enough to visit London, the Tower is a "must
see". To walk the same corridors as kings and so many famous people of
history is a rare experience. As a museum the Tower is unrivaled in
Great Britain as a depository of medieval artifacts, and you will be
fascinated by the arms, armor, and other stuff in almost every room. And
you will never forget the Tower Ravens. Expect to spend an entire day
here, yet you still won't have time to see everything. I highly
recommend writing in advance for free tickets to see the Ceremony of the
Keys, the ritual closing of the Tower performed nightly with great
pageantry.

Kind regards,

Lord Mungo Napier, Who has been in the Tower twice (and lived to talk
about it)
