Noble friends,
I just ran across a very interesting web site, VIRTUAL JAMESTOWN,
presented by the University of Virginia. While most of the history of
Jamestown is out of our period (just barely), a number of artifacts
would not have changed much from those used in Elizabethan England:
http://www.virtualjamestown.org/images/artifacts/jamestown.html . The
silver ear picker and the goffering iron are very interesting, and
neither are things we would be likely to think about. The sword hilt and
a buckler are also worthy of examination. This page is worth a few
minutes for any Scadian we does late period England or culturally
related countries like Ireland or Scotland.
Of course, the rest of the site is also worthy of exploration.
Have fun.
