If you truly are in search of sail battens you may have some luck in
calling sail lofts (where sails are made) and asking if they have any
decommissioned sails with battens. You may be able to get them at a
greatly reduced price, or even for free if you're willing to accept
damaged battens that are no longer good for sails.
Also, we are reaching the end of sailing season so many boats are
going to be pulled from the water for storage and a number of boat
owners will replace or upgrade their equipment now rather than waiting
for Spring. Usually at this time of year you will have greater luck
if you are searching for used equipment or sails. Frequently sailors
will put equipment up on Craigs List or on a bulletin board in the
back of the local West Marine store.
