[MR] Scrolls, Promissories and Name Misspellings

  Greetings,

Mistakes happen. Even when we research through the O&A and the OP, it
still happens. Also, since it is no longer required for the name to be
registered before receiving a kingdom scroll, the award scroll may have
been completed before a name is passed or while it is pending but then a
change happens. If you change your name after you receive your scroll
the kingdom does not issue you a new scroll. However, if we make a
mistake we may be able to fix that.
Some scrolls can be fixed. Some cannot. I would suggest you consult a
scribe you know or contact the Clerk Signet (me). I can repair some
scrolls depending on the design and the paper used. Vellum and
pergamenata scrolls fix easier than bristol. (Please no White-out!).
Also keep in mind that many people have never received any other award
before they get their Award of Arms and many have not passed a name and
device. So, when someone recommends you to Their Majesties for an award
and they misspell your name in the recommendation-that is the
information that we scribes have to go on. The award scrolls being
created come from scribes from all over the kingdom and the scribe may
not know you personally to be able to have the correct information. We
can only work with what we have.
To help the scribes and make the heralds happy....register your name
even before you get your AoA!

I will be at Unevent and anyone with specific scroll questions may bring
the scrolls to me there and I can make suggestions regarding what would
be needed for repairing the scroll. Also, I am planning to bring
backlog scrolls to Unevent so that people can pick up backlog scrolls.
(I'll send a list to the tavern as it gets closer to the event). I
would also like the landed baronage to come see me to pick up scrolls
for delivery to members of their group. While I love seeing the
beautiful artwork in the kingdom portfolio it would be better on
someone's wall.

If you get a scroll through the Clerk Signet's office and there is an
error, just send me an e-mail to let me know and I will do what I can to
help.
