[MR] Scrolls, Promissories and Name Misspellings

I think that Gorm meant oanda.sca.org.

And the most useful variant is the name pattern search at
http://oanda.sca.org/oanda_np.cgi.

As the person who has answered a LOT of the name and armory questions for
Atlantian scribes over the past seven years, I'd like to add that sometimes
the individual in question only THINKS the name is misspelled. A lot of
people in the Society are spelling challenged and in some cases where they
originally used a name that was not period and registered something
slightly --- or significantly --- different, the name may not match their
expectations but be their actual name.

And, as to the attestation, while the intention of the attestation is to
prove that the arms (and the name as well, of course) is actually
registered, not all Tritons have had access to the O & A when signing
scrolls or had the time to check and trusted that the scribe had checked it
which was not always true. And --- in a few unfortunate cases --- Triton
did not care to contravene the individual or the Crown when they said that
an incorrect name was correct and signed an attestation that was incorrect.
. . And in any case a lot of scrolls --- even peerage scrolls --- are given
out without the attestation because Triton is not present at the event or
available to sign the scroll.
