Lady Alexandra,
Misspellings happened all the time in period. The scribe that created the scroll may have made a mistake and just misspelled the name accidentally or may have been given the wrong spelling... you can find manuscripts in period that have corrections made, such as, having a bird fly in a letter that was missed, or a person with a wheel barrow full of the right letters to where it needs to go. I've also seen one where there is a hatchet wielding critter destroying a letter that shouldn't have been there. So, there's all sorts of ways to fix it. Just have to nicely tell the scribe about the mistake and then they can fix it.

Subject: [MR] Scrolls, Promissories and Name Misspellings
A note about scrolls, promissories . . .
When a scroll has been given, consider it an honour and a privilege to be its
recipient. Others have thought of you and whatever you have done.
Here is a question/comment that I hope someone can answer.
Is there a proper and polite way to inform others when a name is misspelled?
On the chance that your name has been misspelled, the honour still remains.
There are many unusual names amongst us and often the spellings are skewed. I
would suspect that Promissories, event scrolls done on the spot etc. should not
be recreated. On the other hand, if an Award of Arms scroll is presented, a lot
of thought and work went into the illumination. It would be a pity to have a
misspelling at that point.
Graciously,
Alexandra (with no "i")
