Greetings Friends,

Falcon Cree's event, Feast of the Saints: St Anthony in May will be here before we know it. I have been asked by Isolda, the Event Steward to organize a charity collection, as St. Anthony is the patron saint of lost things and charity. Project Linus has been chosen as the charity to support in this.

For those unfamiliar with Project Linus, it is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of blankets, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” “Blanketeers,” provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. It is Project Linus’ policy to accept blankets of all sizes. All blanket styles are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors. Always remember that blankets must be homemade, washable, free of pins, and come from smoke-free environments due to allergy reasons. http://www.projectlinus.org/

We would like to hold a weekend-long blanket-o-thon for Project Linus at Feast of the Saints in May. Planned charity-benefiting activities at the event will include a silent auction of lost items (things that have been in the Lost and Found for ages, and no one has claimed them so they now belong to the Canton), a blanket making station, and a collection for those who would prefer to make one ahead of time.

We would like to encourage the populace to contribute and/or participate in this activity for such a worthy cause. We hope to be able to provide Project Linus with lots of warmth and comfort from the loving hands of the good people of this Barony. We will need donations of materials for the blanket making station, so it’s a good opportunity for folks to clean out their fabric stash. Kid friendly fabrics can be sent to Baroness Brig ingen Erennaigh ldybrigh at embarqmail.com or Lady Isolda Jourdan .isolda.of.falconcree at gmail.com The easiest blankets to make on site will be tied fleece, but other materials are welcome. We hope to have availability of power, and thus sewing machines as well. The National collection cent er accepts knitted or crocheted blankets, but the local groups have asked that we steer clear of them, as they have found that little fingers and toes or medical equipment tend to get caught in them. If you are a knitter or crocheter you too can participate! The local chapter will not take the blankets, but i will be more than happy to ship them to the national collection center who will.

If you wish to donate materials, here is a list of suggested items:

fleece

flannel

thread

craft felt

fabric glue

fabric paint

yarn or crochet thread

Please consider joining us in support of Project Linus! Everyone can help! Baroness Brig ingen Erennaigh
