Also, folks, remember that even if you don't contract Lyme or RMSF (and neither of those is likely), you can still get pretty sick from bacterial infections from ticks. Nasty secondary infections don't get much press. 

 

And they should, because while the famous tick diseases are always all over the news, they are actually fairly rare, when you consider how many ticks are out there. What is NOT so rare are secondary infections, because while all ticks don't cary Lyme, all of them have nasty, nasty little mouths and can possibly give you something you will end up needing antibiotics for.
