Ahoy the tavern-
Been watching the conversations about who comps who when, and why, and all that, but a couple recent posts pointed out something that has bothered me for many years....
A few people doing the majority of the work for the events.... I know most every group has a core of "workhorses", and then the hangers on who are more interested in having fun than working.
Now I say that everyone should play this game at their own comfort level. Yet, we who are officers, and have been various officers, Event Stewards, Cooks, Chirurgeons, Marshalls and more for years, talk about burn out regularly.
What can we as an organization do to help encourage the mentality "many hand make light work", so that there AREN'T half a dozen people doing the same things to put on every event, working for six to eight hours the night before the event, all day of, and several hours the next morning, just so we can have our tourneys and events?
I know there are many throughout the Kingdom that really don't think about all the hours they do put in as work, that working is their version of fun, but sometimes, it would be nice to see those who bust their arses all the time get the rare chance to sit themselves at an event, and not have to worry about things, wouldn't it?
Over the years, I personally have tried begging, cajoling, pleading, and even bribery to get more folks to help, so that those who do the majority of the work can get a break.... Yet it doesn't seem to help....
Any folks here have any ideas on how this can be fixed???? I'm out of solutions.... ((Sorry Lucien! **grins**))
Until the next,
Yours in service,
