[MR] Greetings Scribes!

Greetings!

I would like to take a minute to address all scribes (and potential
scribes) in Atlantia. Since stepping up as Clerk Signet I have
discovered some interesting challenges. One of the first challenges is
that I don't know all of Atlantia's scribes. I know that you are out
there but I don't have contact information for you all. I tried to
revive the old scribes list but I have discovered that it is not as user
friendly as I need it to be. I am attempting to solve this problem in
two ways. First, I am compiling a roster of Scribes which will include
information such as whether you prefer to do backlog or upcoming
scrolls, specific time periods, calligraphy only or illumination only.
This will help me get you the type of assignments you would like to
have. I have set up a form on Google docs to help me with this. If you
e-mail me I will send you the form. Second, Triton Herald has opened a
Yahoo group. I know there is mixed love for Yahoo Groups but it suits
our needs at this time. (You can still participate as a scribe for the
Kingdom even if you choose not to participate in the yahoo group but
this e-list will be one of the quickest ways for communication in the
scribal community.) I would like to recommend that all scribes (and
potential scribes) join. To join the AtlantianScribes e-list send an
e-mail to AtlantianScribes-subscribe at yahoogroups.com
<mailto:AtlantianScribes-subscribe at yahoogroups.com> I will also send the
roster form information to the scribes on the yahoo group.

The second challenge has been regarding updating the Scribes Handbook. I
have been working to update the information and add the Kingdom's newest
award information. The re-design is underway. I am hoping to have some
discussions about scroll text ideas and FAQ's on the AtlantianScribes
e-list. Until then, if you have any questions or would like to make a
suggestion about the new handbook revision please contact me directly at
signet at atlantia.sca.org <mailto:signet at atlantia.sca.org>

Also, I still need a lead scribe for King's Assessment and Pennsic. If
you are interested please contact me.

If you are interested in doing scrolls for King's Assessment or Pennsic
please let me know. I have 8 assignments between the two events that
still need a scribe. Please let me know which event you wish to do a
scroll for when you contact me.

Finally, a note regarding scroll blanks. We have received some wonderful
scroll blanks. I can't begin to tell you what a huge help they are. I
would like to make sure that every blank that we receive is usable. Keep
these things in mind as you make the scrolls: Write your name in pencil
on the back of the scroll. Leave a full line in the calligraphy for the
name (often the registered name is much longer than what a person is
known by). And leave at least 3 lines blank for the blazon (description
of the arms) if it is not known. Also, leave space for the Triton's
signature after the affirmation text. Do not date the scrolls for
upcoming awards. We are trying to arrange for lead scribes to date the
scrolls on site to avoid having to risk damaging scrolls when the date
needs changed. Thank you all for the scroll blanks. They have been awesome!
