and part of the problem, to be honest, is that an event like this one needs
to be run by someone other than folks like me and ice. we get a little
tunneled in our vision and focus more on the field than on the logistics.
its great for our fighters if they get an awesome field thats flat and
provides good grip but we will have a hard time making it to the event next
time if our support folks had a miserable time or there was little for them
to do other than take care of us. to bring the event back to life i think
that having a couple of folks from the east and atlantia form some kind of
think tank and first find a site that would work is what needs to happen.
leave it up to we stick monkeys and things are ripe to fall apart. 8^(
if people want to be proactive with this i would suggest talking it over
with trms and the kingdom seneschal and see if there is administrative
interest, then see who has done what so that extra work can be eliminated.
i do know a few folks on both sides have been exploring other site options
recently. i also know that there was some talk not too long ago about
looking into reviving some conflict with trimaris to replace sea wars from
so many years ago. ive talked with a number of folks in trimaris about it
both before we moved here and since and there really is a fair amount of
interest. i can also say with very little hesitation that the culture of
trimaris has changed greatly since the days of sea wars. there was a lot of
whining by a number of influential trimarians back then that really did a
lot of harm to the event. this was all on the field stuff by the way.
these days the trimarian fighting culture is much healthier and much more in
line with what the rest of the world is doing and i think these guys are
eager to do something with atlantia. i would recommend not doing it in ga
since that would only involve another kingdom in the autocratic aspects of
such an event. i do know that jacksonville fl is less than 6 hours from
charlotte nc and 6 hours from me here in wpb and might be a good location
even though it would be a healthy drive for folks in, say, black diamond.
not sure how long jax is from the east coast folks on or around 95 though so
it may not be a bad haul.

This is still the problem. After (even before) last year's Kingdom Crusades
conflicted with Storvik Baronial Birthday, among other events Patricia
mentioned, I exchanged a few emails with Duke Icefalcon and he agreed we
should try to coordinate East and Atlantia event schedules to fit Kingdom
Crusades in when it would not have a major conflict. In order to be 'spiked'
on the Atlantian calendar it would have to be co-sponsored by Atlantia, as
far as I know. I mentioned that Storvik has to request the dates for our
site on the first business day in January - and we decide the date by our
November or December meeting - so this would have to be done early. We have
not heard anything back about a date for Kingdom Crusades for 2010.
I don't actually see it on their calendar now, so maybe it has been dropped.
