But that's just it: You are in the position to look at this as making Inter-Kingdom Travel. If someone really wants to make a 15 hour trek for WoW, or any other long distance event, then a difference of $5 is rather mitigated. 
Seems rather like someone from the Wash/Met suggesting travel to EK Northern Regional War Camp and complaining that the price and the amenities weren't good enough. If the amenities aren't there, if the event isn't something you feel is valuable enough to put in the level of commitment it takes, then you don't go. It's major Inter-Kingdom Travel, which is rather different than talking about an event that's two hours away in your own Kingdom.

So why all the haymaking?
