Why do these discussions always seem to come up when I'm vacation
for a couple of weeks?!?
To answer some questions:
1. Hi, I'm Kendrick Wayfarer and I've been the list owner since I helped
start the list back in 1994. You may not have seen much of me
lately at an event because since then I've gotten married and had a
kid and don't get out nearly as much.
2. Rebecca, please don't take my name (or position if you will) in vain.
If you want to know what I think about a particular discussion, just
ask me. I can be reached at kendrick at wayfarer.org or
atlantia-owner at atlantia.sca.org. If you click the link at the
bottom of every single post to the Merry Rose, my email address
is prominently displayed on that web page.
As for this discussion, I have only skimmed through it, but I would
suggest that discussions about demos we do for scouts is relevant
for the Merry Rose but that discussions about boycotting or attempting
to change scouting is not. If you disagree with them and do not wish to
participate in an event with them, that's perfectly fine but please let's
keep things discussion of things that fall outside the purview of the
SCA off the list. There are many other places to discuss things like that.
In general, when the discussion moves outside something that is
relevant to day to day things in the SCA, it's probably time to step
back and consider if it's an appropriate topic for the list (and the
answer is almost always "no").
In an effort to not start this discussion back up again, if anyone
wants to discuss this more, please email me directly.
In service,
Lord Kendrick Wayfarer
Listkeeper, Merry Rose
