You are correct. I *am* confused by your response. You seem to construe
"profit" to be something distasteful. I am simply using it in its
ordinary meaning
of the extent to which revenue exceeds expenses.
Depending on the circumstances, a profit of $1200 may not meet the actual
needs of the group at that time. I'm not going to assume one way or the
other, although I am predisposed to a charitable presumption.
Unless a group has an independent source of income, they are going to
rely on profit from events to fund activities, including up-front costs for
future events. That *is* a key part of sound management. It does necessarily
include "profit".
