I use guilt and friendship and just plain old asking. I walk up to someone known or unknown but usually known and say "hey can you come in the kitchen for 1/2 an hour and wash some dishes?" or "Can you help move tables or mop the hall?" They generally do help out.

Subject: [MR] Who does all the work????
Ahoy the tavern-
Been watching the conversations about who comps who when, and why, and all that,
ut a couple recent posts pointed out something that has bothered me for many
ears....
A few people doing the majority of the work for the events.... I know most
very group has a core of "workhorses", and then the hangers on who are more
nterested in having fun than working.
Now I say that everyone should play this game at their own comfort level. Yet,
e who are officers, and have been various officers, Event Stewards, Cooks,
hirurgeons, Marshalls and more for years, talk about burn out regularly.
What can we as an organization do to help encourage the mentality "many hand
ake light work", so that there AREN'T half a dozen people doing the same things
o put on every event, working for six to eight hours the night before the
vent, all day of, and several hours the next morning, just so we can have our
ourneys and events?
I know there are many throughout the Kingdom that really don't think about all
he hours they do put in as work, that working is their version of fun, but
ometimes, it would be nice to see those who bust their arses all the time get
he rare chance to sit themselves at an event, and not have to worry about
hings, wouldn't it?
Over the years, I personally have tried begging, cajoling, pleading, and even
ribery to get more folks to help, so that those who do the majority of the work
an get a break.... Yet it doesn't seem to help....
Any folks here have any ideas on how this can be fixed???? I'm out of
olutions.... ((Sorry Lucien! **grins**))
Until the next,
ours in service,
