[MR] Who does all the work????

One thing we can do is ASK for help. Before I started going to meetings and
volunteering, I did not know how much work it took to put on an event. Since
no one asked me for help, I figured they already had as much help as they
needed, so I tried to stay out of the way. Now that I'm active in helping to
keep the barony running, I'll ask people for assistance at our events, and
I'm rarely turned down. I've heard a lot of people say they would do things
if asked - including teaching classes, marshaling, etc.
Also, give thanks and compliments so volunteers feel appreciated, and don't
take people for granted. They will be more likely to come back and help
more.
Another thing we can do is to specifically invite people to barony/shire
meetings. They will start to see how many jobs there are, and the more
mature folks will realize they might have some skills that would be useful.
If you can see what skills a person has, point them out to them; they might
not see them.
I'll admit it took me some time to learn the SCA isn't just a big party!
