[MR] comps

And I completely disagree. I believe that every member of the staff should
pay to get on site. Yes, they work hard, but this is a volunteer
organization and I think that paying your way be you cook, autocrat or staff
is an upfront cost of participating at any event. I know that almost every
cook or autocrat pays money out of their pocket to enhance the event...that
is always their choice.

During my terms as Queen I would be comped. It's been 20 years so I can't
swear I paid my way at every event, but I know that I tried to. And on more
than one occasion some kind gentle would step in and pay when I was about to
do so... While at first I felt awkward about accepting I came to realize it
was a gift to the Crown and I accepted it as a privilege...and yes it saved
me money. (The stipend when I was Queen was $40 per person per reign, yup
that was it...and we had no email at that point either!! The Crowns sent out
pollings and paid for printing and postage :-)... LOL, my first gift as
Princess was an answering machine from Duke Olaf. He said we would need one
so we'd be able to eat meals without having the phone ringing off the hook.
Hard to imagine now!

I did not feel that the group should pay my way, as it is and always will be
an incredible honor to serve as Queen.
