[MR] Lowering event fees

This is a very practical solution on the surface. However, it becomes a very slippery slope. If teachers are comped, should the gate keeper be? What about the person who sits gate 8 hours? The person cleaning the showers? The head cook? The person who spent the day washing dishes? The MoL?

I'm not trying to be confrontational here but it's a question I've twisted over myself.

If we start comping people who give their time and resources, where do we stop? Who is more deserving than others?

Earlier, one gentle mentioned that he would have liked to attend an event and present a class in an appropriate A&S, but was deterred from doing so by the combination of up-front costs he would incur for teaching/demo supplies, in addition to the event fee.
Perhaps, to address similar concerns from others, autocrats might consider waiving event fees, in full or in part, for those who will be teaching.
Having never autocratted an event, I cannot judge how practical this suggestion may be . . . but perhaps it's worthy of consideration.
