Palmolive dishwashing soap (the original green) is also excellent for
breaking up oils, with the advantage that it doesn't harm one's skin. We
bring it to nearly every camping event 'just in case'.


For clothes washing specifically, you may want to check out the products
used to shampoo hound dogs - the stuff developed to deal with dog-oil. Since
dogs tend to get into things they shouldn't, the market for treatment
products is very odd and kind of handy. :)
