Wow!  Where do y'all go that dupioni is that expensive?!?  I just got 20 yards of super dark green shantung off of Fabric.com for $1.97 a yard (hence why I got 20 yards of it!).  Ebay and Etsy are both great places to get fabric.  Fabric.com normally sells their silk for around $9~11 a yard.  Granted, it's dupioni but I think some of us might still remember the great silk taffeta they had last year on sale.  You could get it for about $4 a yard if you had a coupon.

Yesterday, I bought 5 yards of silver silk taffeta from Denver Fabrics online for $5.95 a yard.  Heck, I can go to Joanns and get some really great and lovely silk dupioni (they have COLORS now at my Joanns!) for $20.  I typically use my 50% off coupons for their silk.  They, unfortunately, just raised their prices.  It used to be $16 a yard.  Still, not bad if you really need a couple of yards to finish a projects.

> 60' dupioni silk is still farily readily available? in retail stores and on line?when you look through the upholstery sections. it runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 bucks a yard . one might discuss with ones 'service provider' how much is needed for a custom job , what the labor 'bid' would be and then find the fabric on one's own, paying the price one is comfortable with to then add in the taylor's price. you might just??find that works better for all concerned .?Bambi (To be named ater) TBNL
