60' dupioni silk is still farily readily available  in retail stores and on line when you look through the upholstery sections. it runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 bucks a yard . one might discuss with ones 'service provider' how much is needed for a custom job , what the labor 'bid' would be and then find the fabric on one's own, paying the price one is comfortable with to then add in the taylor's price. you might just  find that works better for all concerned . Bambi (To be named ater) TBNL

Good folk -

I beg to differ -

I spent $45 on 10 yards of blue silk by careful shopping on ebay.  Out of
this I made a pair of half circle heraldic cloaks for our barony. These are
of a rational length for an item to see regular use, therefor *not* floor
length. Add an additional $25 for the silks used for applique and throw my
labor in for free as I made these for love, not money.  Reasonable care has
kept them from needing to be cleaned for 4 years.

So ....  making a silk cloak is not so out of reach as you might think!
Now about that principality.
