[MR] Greetings to all in the Merry Rose Tavern

Good afternoon to all,

Several years ago, I decided to take a step back from the SCA after a
chemical burn that left me blind. It was the right choice for me at
the time, allowing me to concentrate on my mundane life and adjusting
to blindness. Now, however, I feel I am ready to test the waters
again. Thus, I have re-joined the Merry Rose and wished to send this
greeting to announce my return.

For all those who knew me, I will not be returning to scribal work. My
vision is far too lacking to let me do any illumination, let alone the
highly detailed work I once enjoyed doing. However, I have interest in
other crafts, and would be grateful for any suggestions on where to
turn to get started. My primary interests will be in basketweaving,
woodcarving, and loom weaving. And of course, persona research as I
continue the story of Lady Julienne, who has been on a long journey of
her own since she was injured by a stray arrow to the eye in Lisbon,
Portugal. What was she doing there? Well, guess you'll just have to
ask her about her travels when you next see her at an event!

Much of my return to the SCA will depend on help from others to get
oriented at outside events, get assistance in learning the new crafts
I'm interested in, and much patience as I dip my feet in the water
tentatively. I hope to better my orientation and mobility next
spring/summer by training with a guide dog, but that is a time away.

I hope to hear from many of you about the going-ons of Atlantia. Who
is this queen I hear King Jason has taken to the throne with him? Who
are the new Crown Prince and Crown Princess? What juicy gossip can you
bring into the tavern for me to overhear?

Looking forward to this return to the Medieval Dream, tentative as it
might be...

Vivat the Dream,
