Good Morning,
I hope you all are doing well on this rainy morning! I've spoken with some of you concerning Hodges Elementary School's ArtFest 2010, and thank you so much to those who have agreed to particpate! We have set the date for Thursday, May 27th, with visual arts displays in the morning and literary, music and performance events in the afternoon.
However, we still need more artists! To those of you I have not had a chance to connect with yet, I am organizing Artfest 2010 here at Hodges in hopes that it will become an annual event. My plan is to feature artists in an around our communities in a venue where students can talk with them about thier work learn about the many different ways to express creativity. If you are interested in being part of this event, you would only need to be able to set up a small display of your work at the school and be willing to discuss what you do with students. The morning hours of visual arts are tentatively set from 8:30am to 11am. Due to construction, visual arts displays will be indoors so weather issues won't be a concern. 
We plan to have good media coverage and also you'd be able to meet and connect with other artists as well as share some of your work with students and inspire a new generation - yaaa! And another resume booster - Demonstrating Artist for 2010 ArtFest, Hodges, SC....how could anyone not want to do this????? Even if you do not consider yourself a 'professional' artist, please consider participating in this event. I am constantly reminding my students that creativity is a vital part of our lives, and sometimes the most inspiring people that they meet are the ones who create not for monetary gain but for the sheer pleasure and joy of creating...so do consider this event and let me know by the end of the week if you'd like to take part in some way, and I'll add you to the roster!
