"It is at Lemon Road School, 7230 Idylwood Road, Falls Church, VA. 

Thursday evenings there are heavy practices 6:30 - 9, and for the next several Sundays as well 1:30-4:30. 

The novice class focuses on a simple series of basic capabilities to take someone, almost anyone, from zero to authorizing comfortably. You need no equipment except yourself to start, although you will slowly need to get your kit together. First things, your protective gear (male cup, goggles) and a wiffle ball bat. Basic concepts include stance, movement, sword and shield positions, developing sufficient power in your blows consistently, different kinds of blows at different ranges, angles and distance in the fight, entering, leaving and controlling distance, shield defense, sword defense. Then preparation for combat, acknowledgement and preparing for authorization -- all based on 7 basic physiological concepts. 

Supporting material will help you build or buy sword, shield, and armor. 

This works, we took all sorts, women 5 1 and barely 100 lbs, 40 year old women, all kinds of guys, and authorized them. "

I will add that the class is fun and low key, though I myself am not a low key type of guy this class hit the mark and was a fun for all that attended.
