*Apologies for the cross-posting*

I hope the readers of this list will find my new book relevant to their
own work: Ottoman Medicine: Health and
Medical Institutions, 1500-1700 (Albany: SUNY, December 2009). This is the
first work in English devoted to medicine
in the Ottoman world. It
deals with medical ethics, relationship between medicine and religion,
standards of professionalism, bureaucratization
and health systems management, and the extent of state control.
