To my most worthy Atlantians I greet thee well.

The Barony of Black Diamond invites you to join us on the 30th of January
for Ice Castles in Fincastle, VA. While there will be many kinds of
activities (including heavy-armored and rapier fighting, merchanting,
feasting, and even target archery if weather permits), my purpose here is to
draw your attention to the variety of Arts and Sciences opportunities.

The competition theme this year is the best use of winter castle imagery and
all forms of work will be accepted with documentation. This competition will
be judged in 3 categories: illumination/calligraphy, poetry, and
three-dimensional items. Some examples of three-dimensional items include
leatherwork, metalwork, woodwork, fiber arts, etching, carving, etc.
In addition, there is an open display for anyone wishing to show their
works.

If you are an artisan who will be joining us for Ice Castles, but who
chooses not to enter the competition, please let me know off-list or come
find me at the A&S tables that day. We would love to have your experienced
eyes to help with judging.

For all those interested in the performing arts, there will be a bardic
competition!

There will be a short dance demonstration during the day. If there is
interest and space, there might be additional dancing during the
afternoon/evening. There will absolutely be dancing after feast. (At that
time, each dance will be taught and then performed.)
