The Robin Hood Archery Tournament at NCRF
 
Each Day of Faire at 1 PM
 
Basic RULES:
Our Tournaments are open to all that come in Costume, provide their own equipment, and can demonstrate that they can shoot Safely.   The Archer must make sure his name appears in the "Archer’s book" prior to the beginning of the tournament.   The Archer must comply with the commands of the designated Range Master. 

Any archer seeing an unsafe act on the range is to call a cease-fire by calling out "Hold" or "Fast". Any archer that fires during a cease-fire will be disqualified from the tourney. 

The Archers Equipment 
Although English style Longbows are preferred, We realize that it is an expensive investment. For that reason we allow all traditional style bows. This includes English style Longbows, Flatbows, Recurves, and American style Longbows. 
We do not allow modern compound bows or modern accessories. No cams, no wheels, no peep sights, no pin sights, no release mechanisms. 
No bow used in the tourney can have any marking on the limbs or riser that can be used for ranging. All such marks if found, must be covered before the tourney starts. 
We also do not allow Crossbows, footbows, or ballista in the tournament, but if you would like to come show it off, we would love to see it! 

The Archers arrows must be wooden shafted (or carbon fiber wood grained) and feather fletched. Arrowheads must be field, bullet, or target heads. No broadheads allowed. All guest shooters MUST have their equipment checked by the Range Master for safety prior to the beginning of the tourney. 
 
Scoring 
Each Archer will loose 6 arrows (known as 1 "end") per round for a maximum of 30 points. 
White = 1 point
Black = 2 points
Blue = 3 points
Red = 4 points
Yellow = 5 points 
If an arrow touches the line between two different colors it will be counted as the higher color. 
If an arrow bounces out it will be counted as 1 point unless the color it hit can be proven and agreed on. 


The Daily Tournament 
It’s a single elimination style tournament. Generally, two archers from each line advance to the next round, the rest are out. If an advancing archer is disqualified, The next highest scoring archer takes his place. 
Remember, Just because you don’t have the highest score in the first round doesn't mean you won’t win! 
When the last archers name is entered into the "Archer’s book", the Range Master will divide the archers into "Lines".

The number of archers on a line and the number of lines in a round are based on the amount of archers and the size of the range. 
The archers of each line will loose 1 end (6 arrows) at the Range Masters command. When the Archer is finished, he will step back away from the line. 
When all archers of the line are finished, the Range Master will give the command to "Fast!" and count your scores. 
Have your score counted and entered into the "Archers book" quickly.

Round 1 
Based on the number of archers competing and at the discretion of the Range Master, either the highest scoring archer of each line OR the TWO highest scoring archers of each line will be announced and they will move to the next round. All other archers are out. 
Round 2 
After all lines of round 1 are scored, The Range Master will call the names of the archers qualified to shoot round 2. 
Round 2 is usually only 1 line of archers. 
When all archers are finished shooting and the scores are recorded in the "Archer’s Book", the Range master will either announce the Winner and the runner-up OR the names of the two highest scoring archers who will move to round 3. This determination is based on the number of archers in round 2. 
Round 3 if the situation warrants 
This round is usually between only the two highest scoring archers of round two. After it is shot and scored the winner and the runner-up are announced. 

The End of Faire Grand Tournament 
This tournament will be shot in the same manner as the daily tournament. 
The Winners and the Runner-ups of both the Saturday and the Sunday tournaments are the only qualified archers to shoot in the End of Faire Grand Tournament. This usually immediately follows the Sunday daily tournament at a one weekend faire. 
In the case of a multiple weekend faire, this will be shot on the last day with all the previously qualified daily tournament winners. No one archer can qualify twice. 
Example: 
Captain Anton wins the Saturday daily tournament and is also the runner-up at the Sunday daily tournament. One of these must be disqualified and the next highest scoring archer will take that spot. 
If one of the qualified archers is not present for this tournament, he is, of course, disqualified and the next highest scoring archer of the same tournament is immediately qualified. 
This is continued until we have our four finalist’s present to shoot. 
4 archers on the line. 
The two highest scoring archers of this round will move to round 2 
At this point, there are only 2 archers left. One will be the winner.
 
Grand Winner Wins the Trophy
Between rounds the Archery Guild will discuss the history and impact of the Welsh and English Long Bow.
