We are going to have a guarded library corner at KASF. "Guarded" in this
case means that if you bring a book or two for people to look at but wish to
spend your time among the displays, I will be the dragon at the door (and I
do mean Dragon!) to ensure that the books never leave the corner and that no
food or beverages approach them.
We all have books that are precious to us and that are rarely seen by others
- yet the niggling voice says that we could enrich someone else's experience
if they had a chance to study them. Now is that chance!
A scanner and copier will be provided for those who need one (assuming the
owner gives permission for copying a page or two.)
Come check out the corner and browse through the tomes...
Pledged from my own collection are:
Textile Conservation from the Fleury museum (lots of lovely costumes and
cloths that they have worked on, in colour photos)
Sutton Hoo Ship Burial II - Arms, Armour and Regalia
OseburgFunditt IV (the cloth finds)
The Illustrated Chronicles of Matthew Paris
The Work of Angels, Masterpieces of Celtic Metalwork, th-9th centuries
Viking Headcoverings from Dublin
A History of Toys by Antonia Fraser
The York books on Leather & Leatherwork; Bone, Antler, Ivory & Horn; Wood &
woodworking
Medieval Panorama (GOOD colour pictures of paintings and artefacts!)
... and anything having to do with Vikings or with Norse/Anglo-Saxon cooking
that is in my possession
