Thanks to all who ventured
out to join us yesterday at the Bazaar despite the ravages of winter
weather. We had an excellent event with
a warm hall and time with friends. We enjoyed
a very amusing tavern brawl “Turkey leg, anyone?” and heard poems about the
tavern brawl during the bardic bearpit along with many fine tales and songs and
music. Shopping enabled treasures to be
purchased for that special someone and we ate hearty courses of hot foods for
both lunch and dinner. Fine arts were
on display and sekunjabin and other excellent brews were sipped. Funds were raised for Haiti relief and many
of us won excellent items from the silent auction.
Bright Hills always has warm
halls and hospitality and as your autocrat I have many of our own folk to thank
for making this happen, and a few friends from afar…
Firstly
I would like to thank all of those who work in advance of the event to ensure
that all is set and ready to welcome you to our halls- Lady Ysuelte who handled
our publicity. Mistress Bec and our
newly minted exchequer Bernie who deal with the less apparent but very
necessary paperwork and details to put on and wrap up an event. Lady Livia who coordinated our merchants and
the silent auction for charity and brings us our wonderful sekunjabin bar that
all might stay refreshed throughout the day. Mistress Chagan Khulan who coordinated our Arts and Sciences offerings
and competitions and who reminds me of other odds and ends that need attending
to and stays to keep cleanup humming along. Lady Dierdre who planned the Baronial Brewer’s competition. Lady Katarzyna planned a shoot and loaded
targets in hopes of archery, which had to be cancelled due to the snow, but she
did fire many folk tales with great acumen during the bardic bearpit. Lady Wynne who set up the herald’s consult
table and Anne Rose who both helped answer heraldic questions. Our cook’s guild and head cook, Lord Bruce,
who planned and ran our feast so smoothly that I heard not a peep of stress
before or during the event and was greeted with only smiles every time I
entered the kitchen to warm up throughout the day, a cheer that I think we
could taste in our very fine repast! Baroness Swieczka who acted as MIC, placed our SCA road signs, and who
assures all of the little details are okay and that there will be a bevy of
help available to me the day of the event along with Haus Wulfshaven who come
ready to help in any way. Beverly, new to the SCA but there from start to finish
helping all day! Baroness Swieczka,
Mistress Chagan, Lady Catriona, Mistress Bec, and my other early morning set up
crew were a blessing and we had the hall set with no fuss and no muss. Maestra
Barbara, who welcomes all to our halls with a welcome smile and Lady Catriona
who assisted her throughout the day. Lord Alexander who acted as our MOL and supervised a riotous fun tavern
brawl. Lord Richard Wyn who ran the
bardic bearpit which kept us most entertained as usual. Lady Catriona who brought decorations and
created a small oasis for our Baroness and our high table. Mistress Anne who sent along table linens,
glasses, and flatware for high table although she was unable to attend the
event. Lady Ingeborg who took on
handling the children’s craft and valentine commission area. Baron Barre, our master of the hall and his
household and servers who allowed us all to rest and enjoy our feast, Lord
Magnus, and Pietre. Thanks to Reyne who
warmed this weary autocrat with harp and flute tunes, enthusiastic help, and
some excellent shrub!
Thanks to all of our cleanup
crew, Lord Kallock, Lady Rebecca, Heather, Lord Randver, Lady Nem, Bernie,
Amalie, Lord
Cairell, Lady Livia, Lady Ingeborg, Lord
Magnus, Lady
Reyne, Mistress Chagan, Caillech, who had
the hall back in shape in record time so that we all might get home and safely
into our beds. J
I hope I have not missed anyone, but given how tired I was
last night and still am today it could be entirely possible, really a Thank you
goes to all of you because we have a great group and so many of you pitch in to
help and get everything done and taken care of that the work becomes that much
lighter. I welcome all of my delegates
to thank your crews as well in case there are more folks I haven’t recalled. I wish you all a warm and excellent holiday
weekend.
