Noble friends,

A few days ago I posted a brief review of a book called DAILY LIFE IN
ELIZABETHAN ENGLAND. Some of you who weren't interested in this period
might have passed over the review (understandable), and so missed the
later mention of other books from Greenwood Press that would be of use
to us.

Here is a selected list for our time period pulled from their web site
at http://www.greenwood.com . Their prices on the web site here are for
hardbacks, but when I ordered my copy of the Elizabethan book from
Barnes & Noble, I was surprised to discover that it was available in
paperback for a fraction of Greenwood's listed price (and it may also be
the earlier edition, but that's o.k. with me). Before shelling out big
bucks for these titles, it might be worthwhile to search around through
B&N or Amazon to see if you can find lower prices, or even used copies.

Here's the list of Scadian-period titles (they have other eras too):

If you go to Greenwood's site and search under "daily life series" you
can see the whole list, including ISBN numbers and prices. There are
reviews and summaries linked to each title. Pretty neat!

Note that a number of these titles have second editions. I suspect that
they have updated web resources, assuming they are similar to the
Elizabethan book. I cannot speak the the usefulness of any of these
except the Elizabethan book, since that is the only one I've seen (so far).

At your service,

Mungo Napier, Shire of Isenfir's unofficial librarian
