Good People of Atlantia, I write to you today on behalf of our good Barun
and Baronessa, Lord Siegfried Sebastian Faust and Lady Francesca Angelo of
Highland Foorde.
Disturbing and troubling news has been brought before the Baronial Seat. Our
two diplomatic emissaries, much delayed by recent storms, have brought back
shocking news of a proposed invasion in the hopes of conquering the northern
Baronies of Atlantia. Invaders from surrounding areas have purportedly
joined together and plan a campaign in early June. Word has it that they
will begin with our outpost at Little Orleans, a small and defenseless
farming settlement in the north of Highland Foorde.
Perhaps the enemies of Atlantia mistakenly believe her proud warriors to be
mired in the manifold pleasures that Great Atlantia affords her people.
Perhaps they assume that Atlantians would just as soon concede defeat than
to march to battle. If so they are much mistaken. Atlantian warriors are
born to war, they know no greater joy or pleasure than that of the
battlefield.
Barun Siegfried is arraying the hosts of Highland Foorde. Long have we
watched the northern boundaries to keep Sweet Atlantia safe from the
ravaging hordes that dwell nearby. Yet though he muster Highland Foorde’s
shieldsmen, her glaivesmen, those who wield the rapiers, the cunning bowmen
and all the machines of war at his command, Highland Foorde is hard against
the Northern wilderness. Determination and skill may not be enough to avail
against overwhelming hordes of foreign marauders arrayed against her.
It is to this purpose then that Barun Siegfried sends these letters that all
of Atlantia may know of the danger on Her Northern Borders, and that the
brave and noble men and women, who hold great skill in war and great courage
in their hearts, will rise up and join us in this moment of peril and teach
these foreign brigands the rightful fear of Atlantia.
Re-fortification of various outposts surrounding Little Orleans have begun.
Sites have been selected for siege weapons and the mustering of archers.
Grounds have been set aside for hosting Atlantia's assembled might. There
are rumors of a Maid with special powers. We are confident she will answer
our call to arms.
We have reinforced our border patrols and have set out agents to the east
and west in order to gain a more thorough understanding of the impending
threat. I will write to you again when I have new information in hand.
