A Moose Tale Collegium and Tournament
April 17, 2010
Barony of Highland Foorde, Hagerstown MD
http://highlandfoorde.atlantia.sca.org/ under "Recent Posts"
Highland Foorde has lost its moose! The head moose succumbed to summer fevers two summers ago, and ever since, the herd has slowly disbanded. Sightings have been scarce in the past seasons, and now they are not to be found anywhere in our lands. Are they hiding on the rugged mountainside, or in the woods of our valleys? Or could they have crossed our mighty river? Have they been lured north in search of better grazing fields? Our populace has been beside itself in worry over our beloved beasts.
And yet, even in as winter fades and green begins to cover the fields again, there have been rumors of another creature that has moved into our lands. Some say it is a gryphon, come to protect us while we search for our moose. And a new aerie of young hawks has been discovered on the western slope of South Mountain. What could this mean?
We are holding a tournament in hopes that during this springtime when the world is thawing from the winter freeze and food and grazing again become plentiful, the activities will call to our moose to return home.
Education was always important to the moose leader too. In his honor, we are also holding a collegium.
Martial Activities: We will have heavy and rapier tournaments, and there will be archery and siege activities.
Arts & Sciences Activities: A variety of classes are being planned for the collegium during the day. An A&S display is also planned.
