Noble friends,

Just cataloged at the UVA libraries: A RENAISSANCE EDUCATION: SCHOOLING
IN BERGAMO AND THE VENETIAN REPUBLIC, 1500-1650 by Christopher Carlsmith
(ISBN 9780802092540; our call # ALDERMAN LA799 .B5 C37 2010). Here is
book that should be of interest to anyone doing Italian Renaissance. It
covers various aspect of secondary education during the late Renaissance
and reformation period. Topics include schooling and the city, schools
run by confraternities, Jesuit schools, and many other aspects. The text
is readable, and contains some interesting anecdotes. Ten illustrations
and two maps, plus an extensive bibliography and index support the text.

Kind regards,

Lord Mungo Napier, Shire of Isenfir's Unofficial Librarian
