Achbar (and others interested, too),

I've posted a number of photos from my trip to Istanbul. Aside from tiles,
pottery and architecture, I -- somehow to my astonishment -- how did that
happen??? :) -- took pictures of arms and armour.

Sized-down, reduced quality ones are on the Windmastershill.org site. I
still have the full detail originals.

There is a series of 5 books on the TOPKAPI palace holdings that include
arms and armour. "The Topkapi Saray Museum: The Treasury" volume has the
armour. J.M. Rogers, ed., Little, Brown and Co., 1987.

"The Arts of War: Arms and Armour of the 7th to 19th Centuries", Vol XXI,
David Alexander, Nour Foundation/Oxford Univ. Press, 1992.

Both the above will make you drool over the armour, not to mention those
poor, dowdy looking 14th Century French and English knights... :)

I have a goodly number of other resources on the Islamic lands and their
armour, weapons, pottery, and jewelry. More than I want to go hunt up on
the shelf at the moment. :)

For those of you with a special interest in the topic, you're welcome to
come by and look over my library. I live in Fayetteville, NC.

Andras Salamandra (who is rebuilding his armour and weaponry to Persian
standards, circa 1210 Gregorian, 606 Hegira.
