i grew up around some very tough new york broads (term of love were im from)
who didnt need help because they were women. they might have needed help,
just like a man might, because they werent tall enough or strong enough or
smart enough. if someone cant figure something out (not smart enough) they
ask for help. if they are staring at something and looked confused good
people generally offer "whats up? cant i help you?". i try to offer to hold
doors, carry chairs, reach for things up high, for anyone that looks like
they need it regardless of sex. but yes, that was kind of ironic......

of courtesy that wiped out any virtue from the compassion he was trying (I
hope) to show you. It seems no different that someone offering to help me
carry a basket, then grabbing it out of my hands after my refusal. All
"good" from the offer, was negated by the rudeness involved. And that his
knight would encourage such a view as you describes is unfortunate and a
loss for Trimaris.

I agree with your evaluation of the other fighter's reaction. I am
regularly surprised by how many times an offer of assistance to carry
things is declined. When it is, as with any other offer, the only proper
response is to respect their wishes. To tie in another thread, I find it
ironic that I will attempt to soundly beat a fighter on the field who
happens to be a woman, but then offer to carry her chair because she is.
