Oh dear. Right off the bat I am at a loss... Um, Baron Bryce (see, should I
answer you 'as a Knight', given the conversation, or with your
currently-highest rank?), it may well be personal to what I have
experienced.
Sitting on the sidelines, or hanging out with fighters of every rank leads
to hearing their views - and that is all I can base my own on. So years of
hearing Super Fighters say, "I should have backed off a bit on 'Newbiy X' or
seeing the deliberate ramping down of skill (as Baron Donal described)
lauded has shaped my view.

It is, as Duke* Logan said - the sport has evolved. And I expect that my
view is "sandlot baseball" vs National Leagues.

Most of the folks that I pay the most attention to are the ones who walk
away to turn to other forms of activity so perhaps my view is skewed because
of that sense of sadness about losing them from the field.
If that is a minority view, I'm all good with that. As long as folks are
having fun, ultimately, that is the goal, yes?

Hrothny
*I'm going with titles here, shifting from member-to-member conversation.
Please don't take my lack of titling when replying to Duke Logan as a
deliberate insult to him. Then, it was "Logan and Hrothny comparing notes"
but I feel odd responding to someone using my title without doing the same
back. An interesting point of courtesy... Emily Post or Miss Manners could
have fun with it.
