I understand what you are saying, and yes, it is true that only the one
being struck can truly gauge if the blow feels strong enough.
I'm not going to argue what I witnessed. You have your experiences and I
have mine, and we can let it rest there.
To address your specific comments here:

I said "far too many" - which to me, even a few is far too many - but
looking at what I wrote, I certainly see how I gave a much different
impression. Allow me to clarify, then, by saying "some" or "a few",
which I think is still far too many :-)

Yes, it was - obviously for different reasons to me than to you. I
understand what you're saying, and let me say that after a number of
years away and a significant change in location, I am finding Atlantia
to more resemble the SCA that I had grown to love, rather than the dry
rotting husk it had become when and where I last played.
