[MR] The Cost to armor a New fighter?

My Lord Achbar,
A new fighter can be put into a stylish new armor for a lot less then $200. Several years ago I developed a pattern for armor made from car wash barrel plastic that can easily be adapted to any person. The material is free at many car washes. Cut it, bend it and use small screws to hold it. Then paint with rustolem plastic paint and cover with some cloth. Go to a thrift store and get an old curtin, one with a pattern would be good.

Find some sheet metal and a pattern for the helm. Next find a fighter with some metal working experince and get his help in knocking one out. Someone always has a bit a scrap leather around and some padding. With a little bit of sweet talking and being helpful to one and all you can have a suitable piece of kit for about $20.

And yes it can look good. I've seen people who put a great deal of time and money into making beautiful suits on embosed leather or steel, and they wear it one time and you never see them again. It's the fighter who makes the fighter, not his armor.

Subject: [MR] The Cost to armor a New fighter?

This question came up tonight.  Is it possible to armor a new
fighter for  close to $200.00?  My view is that the Helm alone would
cost about that much?  In the past I have been wrong, but I don't
think it could be done safely.  If it could be done, where can I get
the information.
