Agreed, and it is the same with Archery too. You can get decent
equipment off ebay or second hand and what not, but if you want the
pretty stuff, it will cost you. My bow for example was $1100. You
could pick up a decent workable bow for around $50.

My armor is mostly stainless and leather and it costs me somewhere
around $800-900 altogether. The half gauntlets were off ebay for
around $70. The bazubands were around $100, The helm was brought from
pennsic for $250. The most expensive piece was the Ice Falcon
Breastplate for $350.
