> Demi's run $60-$80 a pair, then another $30 for a shield basket, another $35-$45 for one sword basket. Low end, $125 to fight one weapon system and have only one sword and shield in service at a time. There's 60% of your $200 armor budget.
Again I think it depends on whether you are trying to 'get them on the
field', inexpensively, in 'decent safe stuff'. Or if you are wanting
'pretty'.
I'm always a fan of the former, to a new fighter (especially at
colleges/etc where funds may be really limited)
In that case, in regards to gauntlets/demis/baskets. If you are buying
the helm from Ashcraft-Baker anyway, it's only $15 for a functional
basket from them. ($10 each if you buy 3+ at once)
And a functional pair of half-gauntlets can be cut out of some thick
leather scraps really cheaply. (And reinforced with wax-hardening, or
scrap metal plates, depending upon the thickness of the leather to begin
with)
Which if you had bought leather to make arms/legs with, you are going to
have scraps of the right size anyway probably.
