I agree.  I thought the whole thread was rather light-hearted.  I also have difficulty seeing racism in "you can be anyone you want to be in the SCA", but maybe I'm seeing things wrong.

I don't know, but I took that post that he was amused by the notion, not upset by it.  There's nothing wrong with doing whatever persona you choose, but you gotta admit, some of the possible combinations can give you one of those "one of these things is not like the other" moments...

Yeah, it is almost as bad as the norse personas that wear glasses, drink beer out of cans and wear converse footwear.

We gonna start critisizing people that their race does not fit the culture they are portraying now?
You know, I never have heard of someone critisizing my friend James (of african-american ancestry) from portraying an English longbowman form the hundred years war...  Should I call him up and tell him people are disturbed by that?

Get a grip people, I though we were above racisim.
