[MR] Knights Templer question

Hello there. The answer is neither, sorta. Personal devices were not used once someone joined the order. (Though high ranking templar officials did have personal seals, and there was a small amount of precribsed heraldry for certain post commands like Marshall, etc.)

While the templars were early forrunners of military 'uniformity' in dress, there is some disagreement amoungst scholars as to what herladry they used on thier shields. Most evidence points to a stylized use of the Beusent on thier shield rather than the white background with the red cross that hollywood so often shows:

There is some research indicating that order robes and military gear were possibly regionalized by proto-nationality. In other words, the Templars in France might be wearing slightly different habit from the templars in Spain.
