[MR] Kinda off topic?

The news reports I've seen stated:
"The intruder's left hand was nearly severed - Mr. Guglielmi described it as "hanging on by a thread" - and the man suffered a severe cut to the upper body."

That could have been the result of one blow, through the wrist and on into the body.  Not necessarily the work of someone who "went a little nuts on the guy"

Either way, the burglar was foolish enough to attack an armed person bare-handed.  Not exactly a formula for success.

The Burgler wasn't wearing 16 gauge steel and I doubt if he's going to
call the shot light :)

I supposed though that a stick doesn't have the same amount of menace
as a sword.

But wouldn't someone stop attacking after his hand got cut off? So why
did the student keep hacking at the guy's chest? There were multiple
cuts to the guy's chest, not just one. Sounds to me like this burgler
was either crazy, or the student went a little nuts on the guy.
