We're gonna have LOADS of fun, so y'all come!
The Son of the Hawkwood Howl
October 23-25, 2009
Barony of Hawkwood (Western N.C.)
Just when you think it's safe to go into the woods, an old feeling stirs the
hairs on the back of your neck. As the father did before, so now does the
son stir a chill in the mountains. The old-timers say that the Son of the
Hawkwood Howl is coming to avenge his father's defeat! Please join the
denizens of the Barony of Hawkwood for a weekend full of fun and fright.
You never know what might happen when the Son of the Hawkwood Howl comes to
take his revenge!
And for those young of heart, but a little more stout, good old Haunted
House games, including the Hawkwood favorites, full-contact musical chairs
and marshalled tug o'war!
Fighting: LOTS and LOTS O'FIGHTIN'!!!!
FIRST! We'll have a 5-round Bedford (Magic) Points Tourney!
THEN! There will be a ZOMBIE TOURNEY!!!! What's a Zombie Tourney, you
ask??? It's kinda a reverse warlord tourney, with a castle. We divide the
fighters into 2 teams, usually by rank. One team is the Zombies
(attackers); the other are the Townsfolk (defenders). The rules are thus:
1. Zombies cannot be killed except by three telling blows to the head.
However, all other incapacitating blows (legs, arms) are counted.
2. Zombies can only fight with one arm with a one-handed weapon
3. Zombies must mutter "brains..." at random intervals
4. Townsfolk may use weapons of choice
5. Townsfolk, if killed, must resurrect as a Zombie, using the
aforementioned Zombie conventions of combat.
Last man standing is the winner! There will also be a prize for the best
death.
The list shall open at 10:00 am and the fighting will commence promptly at
12:00-high noon. Both armored and rapier will run the same formats.
A&S categories: (1) Best use of feathers OR gourds; (2) Best torture
implement; (3) Best use of autumn in an edible product
