Gentle greetings from Hrothny,
Because somehow I missed it in the emails and thought perhaps you did too
(the "you" being a general "anyone who might be interested"), and because
it's always nice to know which sort of equipment to bring, I give you a
message from Lord Opi Vali, the Marshal in Charge:

-------
Good Gentles,

For those who are not going elsewhere, but still want to go to an event our
rapier combat is in a dance card set up with the following formats:

Fighting Challenges

Challenge an Atlantian Thug (i.e. a heavy-weapons authorized fighter) to a
bout of any sort. Possibilities include, but are not limited to thumb
wrestling, Indian leg wrestling, a foot race, a game of darts, a game of
Shut The Box, or plain old rock/paper/scissors. Be creative!

Captain’s Orders The not-so-good ship Ill Winds has pulled into port.
Captain Sidoto's Galley Slaves are trying to escape. The Captain has ordered
you to capture his galley slaves alive or be forced to take their place
washin’ dishes. The roll of a die will determine the number of galley slaves
being pursued and the number of deck hands doing the pursuing.

Goblet Fencing – Each fighter will have a goblet filled with water and the
weapon of their choice. The fighter with the most amount of water left in
their goblet after three deaths have occurred is triumphant.

Thinking inside the Box A 3’ x 3’ square of fabric will be placed on the
ground. Each fighter must select a foot to keep in this square at all times.
The fighter may lift their foot in the air, but never set it down outside
the fabric square. Switching foots is not an option and fighting must be
done with their longest blade.

Dagger Fights – All fights will be conducted with daggers only.. If a
fighter chooses to use a weapon of any other form, he or she will be
required to entertain the crowd in a manner of their choosing before their
battle. The crowd will decide if the fighter has been entertaining enough to
earn the ability to use a different weapon.

Lamb Raid – Each fighter must successfully fight 3 guards in-a-row to
pillage lamb for tonight’s stew.

3-Man Melee’s will be conducted after all fighting scenarios have been
completed.
